“Previously, I subscribed to Business versions of around ten different apps such as Google, Zoom, Zapier, Calendly and Get Response, each costing between £30 and £100 per year. With Zoho, I pay a mere £30 per month to have access to 40+ apps – all integrated into one place. “
Manchester-based Care Skilled is a training and consultancy company that supports care providers across the UK in tackling operational challenges.
80% of care sector provision in the UK is undertaken by small, private businesses, often with fewer than ten workers. The proficiency of owner-operators often lies in their background as ex-care-workers, not necessarily as business people. As such, they can struggle with the complexities of recruiting for the care sector and with how to market themselves effectively to the local community.
Not being able to recruit or fill beds quickly enough has a significant, financial impact on a care home, not only in day-to-day operations but longer-term as quality standards, and in turn, CQC ratings, are affected.
Care Skilled takes a holistic view of a care provider’s situation, offering an entirely bespoke solution. This could involve support with training, marketing, recruitment, mock CQC inspections, or even parachuting in a management team where a CQC rating is inadequate.

Achieving business growth with the help of JCM and Zoho
Simon Crowther, Care Skilled’s Managing Director, was first introduced to the Zoho system by his brother, a professional photographer. The business sectors may be different but some elements of the software certainly had universal appeal.
One such example is Zoho’s project management function.
As Care Skilled is a company built on an associate model, there’s a significant amount of project and workflow management involved in working remotely with 20 different clinicians and quality experts across the country. It made sense, therefore, that Care Skilled called on JCM’s support in process mapping to help implement the new CRM.
An immediate impact
As Simon explains,
“My only regret is that I didn’t know about Zoho sooner! It’s already made a very tangible impact to the running of my business and has saved me an astonishing amount of money. Previously, I subscribed to Business versions of around ten different apps such as Google, Zoom, Zapier, Calendly and Get Response, each costing between £30 and £100 per year. With Zoho, I pay a mere £30 per month to have access to 40+ apps – all integrated into one place.
“I haven’t measured the time it’s saved me in hours but, what I can say, is that, by allowing me to keep my business processes firmly on track, I’ve been able to take on a further ten large-scale client projects. “
